In the eye of the storm surrounding cannabis legalization, "Tell Your Children" by Alex Berenson emerges as a compelling beacon of scrutiny, challenging the foundations upon which the pro-marijuana movement is built. With a keen investigative eye, Berenson, an award-winning author and former New York Times reporter, delves into the intricate tapestry of societal beliefs, scientific research, and hard facts to reveal a disturbing connection between teenage marijuana use, mental illness, and an underreported epidemic of violence. This book dismantles the oft-touted myths that have propelled the drug's acceptance in society, showcasing through rigorous reporting that the rush towards legalization has overlooked significant dangers, particularly the potent link between THC and psychotic episodes that can lead to violence. Berenson's narrative is not just another critique but a meticulously researched journey from the laboratories of London to the prisons of Colorado, piecing together the puzzle of cannabis's impact on the human psyche and societal well-being. "Tell Your Children" stands as a crucial read in a time when marijuana is being heralded as a benign and even beneficial substance. It poses hard questions about the risks we are willing to accept in the name of freedom and relief, making a compelling case for a reevaluation of cannabis's place in medicine and society at large. Through a blend of personal stories, scientific research, and a critical look at the socio-political forces driving marijuana legalization, Berenson's book is an essential wake-up call to understand the true cost of ignoring the darker side of cannabis.

Overwhelming evidence links psychotic disorders and violence, especially murder. Studies have confirmed the connection, across cultures, nations, races, and eras. The definitive analysis was published in PLOS Medicine in 2009. Led by Seena Fazel, a psychiatrist and epidemiologist at Oxford University, researchers examined twenty earlier studies on people with schizophrenia and other forms of psychosis. They found that people with psychosis were 5 times as likely to commit violent crimes as
