In "Dear Reader," Michael Malice offers an unprecedented glimpse into the enigmatic world of North Korea through the eyes of its most notorious leader, Kim Jong Il. Crafted from an extensive collection of propaganda sourced directly from Pyongyang, this narrative reconstructs the Dear Leader's life story, presenting a first-person account teeming with the surreal myths and state-crafted tales that have shrouded Kim Jong Il in mystique. From his purportedly miraculous birth during the tumultuous times of World War II to his rise as the "Incarnation of Love and Morality," Malice navigates the reader through the fantastical and often chilling corridors of Kim's regime. This book is not just a biography; it's a deep dive into the heart of North Korean darkness, illuminating the peculiar blend of fiction and reality that governs the isolated nation. Beyond the life of Kim Jong Il, "Dear Reader" serves as a critical examination of North Korean society, exploring the ideological underpinnings and historical events that have shaped the country's destiny. Malice employs a keen eye for detail and a sharp wit to dissect the Juche idea, the regime's propaganda art, and the harrowing tales of famine and survival, all while unraveling the complex persona of Kim Jong Il himself. Through this meticulously researched account, the reader is offered a rare look at the inner workings of one of the most secretive and intriguing countries in the world, told through the narrative of its most enigmatic leader. This book is a must-read for anyone fascinated by the intersection of politics, history, and the profound power of personality cults.

Terrifying and hilarious at the same time. - Glenn Beck
The public executions began immediately after the plenum. The Party put up posters throughout Pyongyang, announcing the wonderful events. I attended each and every one of them, and from the size of the crowds it seemed as if everybody in the city was there as well. Entire families made a day of it, with the youngsters even missing school. As the class enemies met their fates, the crowd erupted in huge cheers. The applause was so loud it was as if the people were competing to see who could make the most noise.
